Project Overview

In 2014 we were commissioned by a UK manufacturer and processor of iron oxide colour pigments to provide complete asbestos management services, including asbestos management surveys, localised pre-refurbishment surveys, asbestos fibre air monitoring, removal management and awareness training on site. We had 0 incidents or accidents and completed the full project on time and in budget.

We initially provided asbestos management surveys to the entire site, whilst fully occupied and in operation with live services. The areas surveyed included: live plant areas, boiler rooms, workshops, offices, control buildings, warehouses and substations.

Localised pre-refurbishment surveys were carried out to specialist plant, such as the reactors within the carboxylate plant, when they were inactive.

Following successful completion of these surveys, the site was found to contain large amounts of asbestos containing materials.

In April 2014 we provided UKATA Category A, asbestos awareness training courses and certificates for staff members at the site who may be working near ACMs, with a 100% pass rate.

In May 2014 we embarked on a large asbestos removal management project to the occupied and live production site. This was a 90 day project which included: managing the phased removal programme, personal monitoring, reassurance air tests, complete supervision and auditing of the removal contractor, four stage clearances and progress meetings with the client and contractor to ensure the areas remained safe for continuous occupation.
