Highways Civil Engineering Support

Specialist Ground Works and Investigation

Highways Civil Engineering Support

Highways Support/Surveys

We undertake highways support and survey works across the UK’s infrastructure network, including substantial investigation work which is delivered to the highest UK professional standards. Our surveying and support services  are designed to meet specific customer requirements and encompass safety inspection, condition survey, service inspection and regulatory inspection work.

We can undertake on-site risk assessments, which take into account unique circumstances, before categorising defect response times in accordance with your specific requirements. We are also able to manage motorway sites where we can deliver an expansive suite of services as a package of support services that encompasses  asbestos testing, paint testing, coal tar testing, soils investigation and analysis.

All surveys are carried out by qualified inspectors using our innovative mobile application for data collection and our analytical documentation is subject to stringent quality assurance processes.

Cable Duct Enabling

The installation or laying of cables and ducting under the ground is a critical infrastructure function. Indeed, the reliability and long-term success of any cable network, power or utility supply depends ultimately on the proper laying of cables, quality of cable joints and branch connection. So, the correct ground works preparation is essential for fast, reliable and effective cable laying.

We are able to deploy our fully trained, experienced and skilled teams to undertake all the necessary cable route excavation work, including an investigation of existing buried services, to ensure compliance with National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS) and other street works requirements.

Duct Proofing

Cross carriageway or longitudinal ducts require regular checking and maintenance to ensure structural integrity is maintained and that highways continue to remain safe and secure for pedestrians, cyclists, private motorists, travellers on public transport and other road users. Best practice also dictates that any new installation work of ducts and cable troughs, or maintenance of roadside chambers, should be undertaken with minimum disruption to traffic and local communities.

Our teams can support ground works as part of wider local authority or highways structural integrity investigation programme. In line with good practice, our Chapter 8 compliant fleet enables us to service almost all UK location requirements, operating from fully equipped vehicles which are authorised to stop on UK roads for works or inspection purposes.

Lamp Column Preparation

The long success of a lamp column installation programme relies on several interconnected factors, including professionally conducted and comprehensive pre-works ground analysis and preparation. For instance, an assessment of ground conditions covering soil and rock composition and sampling, is an important first step on the path to success while knowledge of planting depths can secure long term stability and safety of street lamps.

That’s why you can rely on our services: from groundworks preparation prior to the installation and connection of new street lighting schemes through to possible reinstatement work, our NERS accredited Civils team will work with you to deliver your project on time and within budget.
